Military Academy and ParkPark Military Academy "GS Rakovski" - Sofia is a great place for recreation of citizens and guests of Sofia. On March 5, 1946. with the regent's decree №6 of the Military Academy the name of the patriarch of the Bulgarian national liberation movement Georgi Stoykov Rakovski is given.
It is the oldest higher military school in Bulgaria and is located in the center of the capital, near the Eagle Bridge. There are two options to enter the park: through the main entrance - from Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi Blvd. to Madrid Blvd. and through the entrance from Ham Omurtag St. Since 2010, citizens are allowed in the park.
The building of the Military Academy is located in the park. It was built between 1888 and 1894. It has 3 floors and looks like an old fortress. Seen from above, the building has the shape of the letter E - the first letter of the name of the wife of Ferdinand I - Princess Eleanor. The park was designed by arch. Friedrich Grunanger.
A number of cultural events of the capital are held here, such as "Opera in the Park", "Open-Air Cinema" and others.
